Frequently Asked Questions

All lessons are by appointment only. They are currently offered every day of the week with the exception of Sunday and usually Thursdays, though this is subject to change. Please contact us to learn more about availability. Please note that we typically do not hold lessons over the summer as it is dangerously hot to be outside for an extended period of time. 

No, we do not offer trail rides with the exception of current, experienced, horseback riding clients. 

However, if you have your own horses and need a buddy to ride with, I regularly ride from our farm out in the desert. I would be happy to go on a ride with you and your horse. There is plenty of space for trailers on site.

Children must be at least 5 years old to take lessons at A2Z Horses. Children under 8 may be required to take private lessons and would not be eligible for group lessons unless approved by the instructor.

Horsemanship Riding camp require children to be at least 8. However, they can be 7 or older for the non-riding Horsemanship camp.

Riding attire for a lesson includes weather-appropriate clothing for being outside, long pants, and a boot with a smooth-tread sole and at least a ½ inch heel. For the first few lessons, tennis shoes or other sturdy enclosed shoes are allowed. 

All students will be required to wear a school-provided helmet while riding. 

Students may purchase and wear their own helmet but it must be an ASTM-approved horseback riding helmet. Bicycle and skateboard helmets do not provide adequate protection and will not be allowed during a riding lesson. 

We offer a boot exchange box that often will have an appropriate size boot for the rider. We keep this stocked with our clients’ help. As your child grows out of their boots, please bring them to donate/trade to our boot exchange box. If we do not have the appropriate size boots or you prefer new shoes, some places to check out are Boot Barn, Tractor Supply, and Cal Ranch. Also, you can often find them in resale/thrift stores and they are always available online. 

Boot Tip: If you are purchasing for a growing child, consider getting a size or two up. The child will still be able to wear them riding (especially with a thick sock) and they will last longer.

No, we have a large variety of helmets (in all sizes) available for our clients to use. If you would like to bring your own, you are more than welcome to but it must be ASTM-approved for horseback riding. Bicycle/skateboard helmets do NOT provide adequate protection for horseback riding.  

During your child’s lesson, you are more than welcome to watch, take pictures, sit in the shade or in your vehicle, read, play a game on your device, or just enjoy the peace and quiet the farm has to offer. You are required to stay on the property during your child’s lesson. We ask that you refrain from following closely to your child. Our goal is to keep everyone safe and the instructor can best do this when they only need to worry about the safety of the child around the horses. Ms. Jen has years of experience and knows the horses very well, she will do everything in her power to keep your child safe so enjoy a little break out at the farm! 

You are more than welcome to bring CARROTS for your horse after your lesson. Your instructor will show you how to properly feed the horses carrots. Do NOT bring anything besides carrots for the horse and only feed the horses that you have been given permission to feed. We have horses on the property with allergies and other dietary restrictions.  

Yes, birthday parties and other private events can be scheduled with our riding instructor, Jennifer Kaye (call/text @ 928-923-3362). Please keep in mind that this is a working farm and has all the aspects of a farm including a lot of animals.  

No, not unless you have previously spoken with the owners or the instructors and have scheduled a time when someone is available to be there with you. Never feed a horse without direct permission from the owner. Some horses have allergies and other dietary restrictions. The only treat we allow our horses to be fed are carrots. 

We prefer cash but we can accept Zelle and major credit cards. A $2 processing fee is added for every lesson paid for by credit card. ESA funds may also be used to pay for lessons. We are an approved vendor through ClassWallet. Monthly Tuition is required for ESA payments. 

YES! While I prefer to use the debit card if you are able to, I can accept Class Wallet payments or offer a receipt and credentials for reimbursements. Please note that I was previously listed as Rocking 45 Farm, LLC in Class Wallet.

Please inform Ms. Jen of any lessons that you cannot attend as soon as possible. A 24-hour advance notice is required for all missed lessons. If you are a no-show or cancel within the 24-hour period leading up to your scheduled lesson, a $40 fee will be charged and due before scheduling another lesson. For ESA students, no refunds will be available for missed lessons.
